On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the magic of early cinema came alive at the Porter Silent Film Festival, held at the historic Edwin S. Porter Theatre in Connellsville. As guests gathered to enjoy a night of timeless silent films and live music by the acclaimed Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, three of our own Connellsville Leo Club members stepped up to serve as ushers for the evening.
Their service ensured a smooth and welcoming experience for all attendees, and their efforts did not go unnoticed. The Leos were officially recognized in the festival’s program, highlighting their role and dedication to community service.
The event was a celebration of local history and cinematic heritage, honoring Edwin S. Porter, a Connellsville native and pioneering film director. Alongside the silent film screenings, attendees enjoyed live orchestral scores, refreshments, and the warm hospitality that makes Connellsville shine.
For the Connellsville Leo Club, it was another meaningful opportunity to be of service, this time, in support of the arts and cultural life of our city. Whether helping behind the scenes or leading community projects, our Leos continue to represent the future of leadership with pride and heart.
