Bringing color, community, and connection to the Great Allegheny Passage

A new project is underway to add more beauty — and more story — to downtown Connellsville.

The Connellsville Lions Club is proud to support a mural that will soon be painted along the concrete wall separating the upper and lower parking lots on East Crawford Avenue. This vibrant public artwork will celebrate the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) — the iconic 150-mile hike and bike trail stretching from Pittsburgh, PA to Cumberland, MD.

The mural is being created by artist Randi Stewart, who will bring scenes from trail towns to life in vivid color. Of course, Connellsville will take center stage in the mural, capturing the town’s spirit, history, and connection to the trail.

A Community-Powered Project

This project is the vision of Lion Mike Comiskey, who is leading the fundraising efforts. A GoFundMe page has been launched, and thanks to early community support, the mural has already raised $3,500. Special thanks to:

  • Tom Dickey State Farm for a generous $500 donation
  • YRTC for contributing $750
  • Connellsville City Council, which officially approved the project at their latest meeting

How You Can Help

This is a mural for Connellsville, by Connellsville. Every dollar donated brings us closer to transforming a blank wall into a bold visual story of who we are and where we’re going.

  • Donate via the official GoFundMe page or send a check to the Connellsville Lions Club at P.O. Box 1044, Connellsville, PA  15425, with “Mural” on the memo line.
  • Share the fundraiser with family, friends, and fellow trail lovers
  • Support the arts and help us put Connellsville on the mural map

Why It Matters

Public art enriches communities. This mural will not only beautify a high-traffic area in downtown Connellsville, but also celebrate our region’s connection to the GAP trail — one of the country’s most well-known bike and hiking paths. It’s a symbol of our town’s pride, progress, and passion for welcoming visitors and celebrating what makes us unique.

If you believe in Connellsville and love the trail that brings thousands through our town every year, this is your chance to be part of something lasting.

Let’s paint something great — together.
