The much-anticipated 30th Annual Fall Foliage Ride/Walk event took place Sunday, October 13th, 2024, bringing together a vibrant community of nature enthusiasts and volunteers. This year, the event saw a record-breaking attendance with 163 participants, all enjoying the glorious fall weather with temperatures peaking in the high 70s.

The annual event, eagerly awaited by locals, was once again a resounding success, thanks to the dedicated volunteers from the Yough River Trail Council (YRTC) and the Connellsville Lions Club. These volunteers ensured everything ran smoothly, from managing registration tables to setting up and dismantling equipment post-event. Their commitment exemplifies the community spirit that drives this annual gathering.

Special thanks go to the Connellsville Lions Club members, who not only assisted with registration but also served a mouth-watering meal. This meal, a highlight of the event, was generously donated by Lion Bob Bubarth from Bud Murphy’s. Their contribution, along with the support of 26 event sponsors, underscored the collaborative effort that makes the Fall Foliage Ride/Walk possible each year.

Each participant played a vital role in celebrating the beauty of our trail, making for a picturesque fall Sunday. The proceeds from this event, still being finalized, are set to surpass $2,100 for both the YRTC and the Connellsville Lions Club, reinforcing the positive impact community events have on local organizations.

As we reflect on this year’s success, we extend our gratitude to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to even greater achievements as we plan for next year’s event.
